About The Event
There are many ways to work with metal but the direct manipulation of metal with heat and hammers is a singularly satisfying and versatile one. Forging provides not only a way of shaping the object but also the techniques and knowledge to make the tools required for more involved work. Beginning with basic blacksmithing techniques, we will make fibulas, scribes and center punches. These skills will then be applied producing a selection of repose and chasing tools. In addition, we will use steel to practice bracelet forming techniques that will then be translated into bronze. The remaining time will be spent working on individual projects. Beginner and Beyond
